Crackers, Naptime and Primary songs...

So I FINALLY got a calling...Finally. I've been feeling kinda useless and now I feel like my life has purpose again. Are you ready for it? I, Mallorie Anne Mecham, have been called as a NURSERY TEACHER!! Yes, it's true and I'm so excited about it. I love nursery! I mean come on, you get to color, play with toys and sing songs about Jesus. No one gets mad if you take your shoes off and naps are totally encouraged. It's like a dream come true. Plus, I teach the CUTEST kids ever. I love little kids. They're so Christlike and loving. They don't care about all the things that the world cares about. One little girl, Sophie, was having a hard time today, so we went around and tried all the drinking fountains in the church to decide which was the best one. Afterwards, all she wanted to do was sit on my lap and take my CTR ring on and off my finger or try to fit it on other fingers. I've pretty much decided that all I ever need to know I learned in Nursery... Here's my top 5:

5: Share your treats. You never know when someone will have something good to share and if you don't share to begin with, they may never share with you.

4: The baby dolls are the best toy in the Nursery, even the little boys want them. If you have one, you are cool. Always have a baby doll on hand.

3: Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree is the best primary song... EVER. (Can we say 'hand actions'?)

2: You want to be the line leader on the walk around the church. It's a status thing.

1: It is not important to know all the words to any song as long as you have the last three words right...i.e. shide be talk aside te shes dkhe SOME DAY!!

Oh man, Mal, you were meant for nursery. I wish you were Boston's nursery teacher! I loved serving in Nursery and sunbeams before I had kids (now I need the break!) Congrats on the new calling. You'll do great!

What a fun calling! I had no idea about leading the line around the church....I'm definitely gonna have to look into that. :)

It sounds like you had so much fun on your first day in nursery. We substituted in nursery a lot when we first starting going to this ward. Now it seems like we know all of the nursery age kids in the ward, but none of the adults. That's ok, though, they're much cuter :)

I would love to have you as our nursery leader. It seems as though we are always trying to fill callings in my ward. I hope (and actually know) that you will love it!

Randy and I were sunbeam teachers for two years...I actually cried when we got released! There is just something to say about the hearts of children! Have fun with your calling. I am totally jealous!

-How are the youngens? (I mean more aged between 15-17 of course.)

Oh my gosh, HI Mal! It' Kim Call... well Gleason now...I totally stumbled on your blog. I'm so glad your back! Nursery sounds awesome and you should definitely go abroad. And, by the way, I miss ballet so much too. Gosh! Too much to say, I should probably just call you instead!

That's Adam's calling too...but as you can guess he's not into it quite as much as you!
