Admit it...

We all have guilty pleasures. Whether it's an occasional (or not so occasional) episode of The Bachelorette or a deep friend Snickers bar at the state fair once a year, you've got one. Most people don't publish theirs all over the internet because that's embarrassing and silly. I'll tell you right here and now: I happen to have multiple. And I happen to write about some of them on this here blog. So mine aren't such a secret, now are they? Anyway, I happen to be quite the music snob. You didn't know this? Yeah, we must not be very good friends. Pretty much everyone knows that I'm a music snob. I don't listen to the radio because I get sick of the same songs played ad nauseum. I love finding random obscure bands that not everyone has heard of. I was slightly disappointed when they started playing Adele on the radio because then everyone and their dog was obsessed and they'd never even heard her first album all the way through. See? I told you. I'm a music snob. But this music snob has a confession: I have a slight weakness for cheesy pop music. Wince. I know. So, dear readers, here you have my own personal guilty pleasures playlist for your enjoyment. I don't want to hear any mocking. I would welcome more suggestions though...

I have never been good at... (day 23)

the favorites game. Not that I don't have favorites. I do. I just have lots of them. It's the same way with today's post. There hasn't only been one thing impacting my life lately. I'm the luckiest person on the planet and I have all sorts of good things influencing my little self right now. Here are a few:

(HA! I found a picture of Sara that she posed for! This is the Theatre Fairy! She's elusive about the whole picture thing, which why there hasn't been any picture of her until now.)

In which Casey gets a tune up...

No, not the real Casey, crazies. My computer. I know, I know. You're all thinking that it's about time that I stop naming inanimate objects, but I've got news for you: that's never going to happen. I always have and always will give my electronics and other large purchases names:
My iPod? Chuck.
My car? Fitz, short for Fitzwilliam.
My last computer? Howie.
This lovely little machine is called Casey because he has survived more virus attacks and reformatting than any computer should have to and most of them aren't even his fault. He's been completely wiped 4 times since I purchased him 18 months ago, and he's such a champ. Comes back stronger every single time.
Anyway, Casey had to be reformatted yet again because on Wednesday night after I attempted to do math he wouldn't reboot. This is what I mean when I tell you math kills. It tried to kill my beloved Casey, but he's stronger computer then that. I took him into work, only mildly panicked that finals are coming up and all my classes are online. Leif, my genius computer guy, told me that all I needed to do was insert the Windows 7 disc and everything would be lovely again. (Insert buzzer sound here) WRONG. When my equally genius Uncle Bruce tried to do that, Casey freaked out and demanded a complete memory removal. Which completely stinks on multiple levels:
-I didn't have time to back up my files
-All music is gone (Yay for Chuck because without him I would be completely tuneless.)
-My file which contained pictures of the world's hottest men is gone. So I have no screen saver. It's really tragic.
-My little sister's graduation pictures were on here and I haven't had a chance to put them on Facebook yet. Now they're gone.
-My senior paper (which had already been turned in) is gone as well.

Aside from Casey's permanent amnesia, he's working great. I suppose I'll get over the loss of my pictures, but I might have to cry into my pillow for a night or two.

A Jamie Cullum Kind of Day...

First off, if you're wondering who Jamie Cullum is, I'm sad for you. I had the fortune of being introduced to him by a dear friend of mine who had spent time in Britain and is a far bigger deal then I will ever be. Jamie Cullum is a British jazz artist that I love and adore. Today was the perfect day to listen to his lovely voice, crooning in my ear as I rode the train, walked to class, waited for class to start, tried to drown out the voice of that girl who sits next to me in my Roman history class that always seems to offer too much information about her own life and sat at the computer at work answering phone calls about the upcoming U2 concert. It's finally sunny outside, which is fabulous. I would have had an excellent day anyway (even though it's Monday) but Jamie just made it that much better.

In which headphones are a lovely invention...

...mostly because I was jamming to these guys

on the train this morning (Yes, I'm 24.5 years old and I still listen to the Jonas Brothers. What's it to you?) and as an adult, it is not socially acceptable to listen to 12 year old girl music. Due to the miracle of headphones, I could jam to the JoBros in peace without any judging looks.

Dancing with myself...

So I love music. (What?! You didn't know this? Yeah, friendship over). Anyway, I finally bought an iPod, completing one of my New Years' Resolutions and I listen to it obsessively. Next to all my many books, it might be my most favorite possession. On Tuesday, I was at the Trax station on my way home from working at the Stadium. It was sunny and I didn't have to go back up to campus until Wednesday morning; I was fully rockin' out to Glee in celebration. I was taping my little feet right along to "You Can't Always Get What You Want" and "Defying Gravity" because that's what I do to celebrate. Don't judge. As I'm engrossed in my musical world, I see this shady lookin' guy giving me a funny look. I realized that I was probably doing more than just foot taping, and was mouthing the words as well. I had this sudden vision of busting a move right there in front of my fellow commuters; much like Tom in (500) Days of Summer does to Hall & Oats "Makin' My Dreams Come True". I began to giggle just a little bit at the thought and then realized I probably looked like a crazy person. Good thing I don't care what other people think, right?

A few things...

that I'm just plain happy about.

Number one: My nifty (yes, I just used the word nifty. No, I am not an 80 year old woman, but thanks for asking.) new Vans. My sister said that it was the best $40 she ever spent, and boy was she right.

Numero dos: A shinny new iPod. I splurged. Don't judge. It's silver, and lovely. It holds more music than I could ever dream of buying. It lulls me to sleep at night and wakes me up in the morning. This, next to peanut butter and Gilmore Girls, is one of the best inventions ever. Just sayin'.

Number tres: The incredible weather today. Have you looked outside? Seriously? I love the windy, overcast no-snow-in-my-shoes weather that's going on right outside my office window.

Numéro quatre: I get to see Miller and Cannon tonight while Miller...um...fixes my hair. (Before you ask here's the story: I'm impatient and I didn't want to wait until after Christmas for Miller the Hair Goddess to dye my hair brown again. I bought a box dye and did it myself...this impatience resulted in a few blond tiger stripes across one side of my head aaaannnnd a few blond polka dots on the other. Yes, I've learned my lesson. Don't mention it again.)

Number cinque: I have wonderful friends. I've always known this, but it becomes more apparent to me on a regular basis. They make me feel loved and appreciated and I have absolutely no clue how I have been so blessed.

and last but certainly not least....

Shomareh sheesh: (Don't you even worry, that was Farsi. My friend at work speaks it because her dad is from Iran. Cool, no?) It is definitely Friday. How could anyone have a bad day on a Friday? I submit that you cannot!
